_______________________ | The master program is as follows: 1. Strengthening farmer organizations at the group level. Farmer groups are a group of farmers in one stretch or an environment that bind themselves and form a farmer organization at the lowest level and conduct activities related to their daily activities and closely related to farm work. Strengthening farmer groups is an important part of trying to solve problems at the farmer level itself so that gradually each farmer in his group will understand the various problems he faces and will be able to solve his own problems and together with his group. The strength of this base group will underlie the strength of the network and at the same time the farmer organization. Group strengthening is also directed to political awareness education (political education for farmers) which is expected through these activities farmers understand the rights and obligations and their role as citizens and can participate in the overall development process. Group strengthening activities are also carried out through socialization activities both outward and inward, establishing partnerships with other organizations or agencies and trying to make farmers aware of their mistakes so far due to the influence of other parties. 2. Education including the younger generation The strength and sustainability of agricultural development is measured by the resilience and ability of farmers to manage natural resources rationally and efficiently. This education aims to create farmers as resilient managers who have sufficient knowledge, are skilled, capable of assessing business opportunities and can make their own decisions to act and be able to always adjust to the rapidly changing world and changes in agricultural development itself. These activities include efforts to improve the knowledge, attitudes and skills of farmers in managing their farmland so that they can optimize their land, utilized in accordance with the principles of Ecological developed. These efforts are carried out through trainings, Farmer Field Schools, Training of Trainers, action research and experiments, mapping, participatory planning and others. The process is carried out using the approach of Adult Education (andragogy). 3. Lobby, Advocacy and Farmer Media Network (MJP) It is an effort to raise awareness of farmers and other parties then fight for the rights of farmers and efforts to empower the role of farmers. This advocacy activity is more directed to the ability and existence of the base group in defending the problems they face in their respective areas as well as access and relationships to the legislature and executive at the district level by means of direct diplomacy. The value of politeness and eastern customs is still an important part of advocacy. Other functions It is possible to increase the role of Farmers' community control over policies related to public activities. Network media is a means of communication, socialization, connectivity, as well as exchange of knowledge from farmer to farmer not only between farmer network members, but also network members with outside communities. Farmer members are spread far apart in the archipelago, communication between members becomes very important things in the organization, communication through face-to-face is very expensive, under these conditions a network media is needed. Print media was chosen because it is technically easier to do, and can be made in sufficient quantities to reach many people at the same time. This media also serves as a place to capture suggestions, criticisms and input from the community and JAMTANI partners, a means of monitoring the wishes of the wider community towards the existence and direction of the JAMTANI program, as well as a tool to gain support from various parties. 4. Gender Equality and Mainstreaming One part of the empowerment of the role of farmers, the role of “Gender” becomes very important for JAMTANI, thus this field begins with pilot activities carried out in collaboration with other parties. The activities carried out are through the stages of formulating gender issues, TOT Gender training, gender training, compiling SOPs of gender-perspective organizations, compiling Risk Assessment Survey Questioners, field action in the form of research on gender issues in farming communities and workshops on the results of field action. 5. Improving value-added products (Marketing) and Cooperatives Farmers' distance from market access and the huge price disparity at the production and consumer levels, especially during the harvest season. This is the main basis for the need for farmers to build cooperatives that are oriented not only towards control of the production sector but also mechanisms and market access. This means that the program also includes post-harvest processing to increase the added value of a product. Overall, farmers are encouraged to be able to master production, cultivation, post-harvest and alternative marketing tools, including cultivating capital for long-term independence. | ____________________ |
